I am a professional, freelance genealogist and researcher based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Genealogy is my second career. Originally, I studied electronics and worked in the software industry. However, after 18 years I decided to give that up to spend time working on something I love. I've been researching family and local history as a hobby since 2003, carrying out research for myself, family and friends. A few years ago, I decided to formalise my training by undertaking the Postgraduate Genealogy Programme at the University of Strathclyde, gaining my diploma in 2015.

When I'm not researching I love going to see live music and sport, reading crime fiction, cooking (and eating!), and drinking far too much coffee!
