I am a professional, freelance genealogist and researcher based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I had been researching family and local history as a hobby since 2003, carrying out research for myself, family and friends. A few years ago, I decided to formalise my training by undertaking the Postgraduate Genealogy Programme at the University of Strathclyde, gaining my diploma in 2015.

Genealogy is my second career. Originally, I studied electronics at university and, upon graduation, I started working in the software industry. After 18 years in software development and testing, I decided it was time for a change, and opted to offer research services to a wider audience.

I continue to combine my research with other responsibilities as a Director of the Register of Qualified Genealogists and my work in a local charity shop.

Any spare time I have left is spent on crocheting, live music and sport, reading crime fiction, cooking (and eating!), and drinking far too much coffee!
